Niagara Falls This Week reports:-
Niagara Falls is getting in on a growing pastime with the opening of its first cricket pitch, which will have its ribbon cutting ceremony this weekend.
The city will officially open its new pitch located at John N. Allan Park near the south end of the city on Sunday, Sept. 30 at 11:45 a.m.
The pitch was installed in July using artificial turf and silica sand infill. In order to meet the needs of local players, the city worked closely with the Niagara Cricket Academy, which was established in 2012. The academy has grown to about 40 full-time players and has won several district level championships since its establishment. Prior to installing the turf, the club had to install matting for every game.
