CIMA Mayor’s team

The 2011 CIMA City of Toronto Mayor’s Squad who will visit the UK for a cricket tour on Friday  at the Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling Club before a warm-up game against the UK Consul General’s XI (July 26, 2011).
In the match The CIMA/Toronto Mayor’s side beat the UK Consul General’s XI by 37 runs in an entertaining game at the Toronto Cricket, Skating and Curling Club on Tuesday. After rallying to reach 197 for 6 (25 overs), the CIMA/Toronto Mayor’s side bowled out the UK Consul General’s side for 160 (25 overs). The CIMA/Toronto Mayor’s side depart for a cricket tour to the United Kingdom on Friday.
 
Yug Rao struck hit 70 and helped transform the CIMA/City of Toronto Mayor’s XI from a wobbly position into a strong one against the UK Consul General’s side. The CIMA/Toronto Mayor’s XI had lost three early wickets for 15 runs in five overs, two wickets falling to the UK Consul General’s bowling.
 
Rao was helped by a useful 23 from Akshay Shah in a stand that began to transform the innings. Parth Patel (30) and Michael Walton (22 not out) gave the innings a free-scoring end to reach 197 for six wickets.
 
Rao took two early wickets when the Consul General’s side batted, but a plucky 38 from cricket debutante Peter Zirda provided hope for his team. There were some good and lusty shots from Khayam, who made 25, and Lakshan Layange, who made 21, but the target of 198 proved just too much.
