York Memorial girls won the inaugural Toronto and District School Board (TDSB) indoor cricket championship on Monday (February 13th) thanks to a 7 run win against George Harvey Collegiate Institute (CI) at Kipling CI. Darsney Gnavel scored 20 of York Memorial’s 48 for two wickets in the six allocated overs. George Harvey replied with 41 for eight wickets in six overs. Vishwa top scored with 13.

This first girls TDSB indoor cricket championship involved seven teams from five schools in the western part of Toronto. York Memorial beat it’s own “B” team in a semi-final. The “B” team was kept to 20 runs in reply to the “A” team making 58 in six overs. George Harvey CI made 36 and Kipling CI 35 in the other semi-final.

The regular season standings saw York Memorial win all six games. George Harvey won five and lost one; Kipling CI and West Humber CI each had even records of three wins and three losses. York Memorial B won two and lost four, while North Albion CI and George Harvey “B” each registered one win and five defeats.
