Canada thrash Hong Kong

Canada seem to be hitting their stride at the world T20 qualifiers with a comprehensive win over Hong Kong. After restricting Hong Kong to just 81 from their 20 overs, Canada knocked off the runs with 6 overs to spare.
Hong Kong never got going, losing wickets in both the first and second overs (both batsmen going for big shots). Junaid Siddiqui dismissed two more in the fourth over at which point Hong Hong were 17/4. At that point hong Kong concentrated on batting out thier overs, which they succeeded in doing but at a run rate of only 4/ over. Hayat top scored with 36 (43), and the Canadian bowlers returned some impressive figures. Junaid Siddiqui took 3/17, Cheema 2/12 and Aulakh 2/8 and Hong Kong reached the ropes just four times.
Patel and Gunasekera put on 36 for the first wicket, and when Patel was out the game was all but won on 74/2. Patel made 40 at a run/ ball, and was well supported by Kumar.
Coach Michael Dighton said after the game “The Canadian team produced a clinical performance against Hong Kong today with a comfortable win. Our bowlers were terrific against an opposition that had racked up 167 runs in 17.3 overs the day before and full credit must go to them. Henry and Junaid were outstanding up front and were backed up through the middle and end by Zahid bhai, Manny and the skipper. Our batsmen had no problems knocking off the target with Hiral “kabaddi” Patel making a workmanlike 40 runs. We are all looking forward to the Bermuda clash at the DICS tomorrow.”
