Canada won the toss and put Namibia into bat in the first one-day game in Windhoek. The attack was boosted by Henry Osinde and he made the best possible start with a wicket off the first ball, Steenkamp caught by Junaid Siddiqui. Soraine dismissed the dangerous Burger and then Williams first ball, and then Osinde had Opperman caught to reduce the Namibians to 16/4. Soraine’s opening spell was 4-2-2-2. Snyman and van Schoor stabilised the innings, with a partnership of 55 before Soraine had Snyman caught behind for 15. The 100 came up at the half-way mark on the innings but two more wickets fell shortly afterwards – 104/7. van Schoor however was playing well and completed his fifty, and partnered by Viljoen kept Namibia in the game, bringing up the 150 with 11 overs to go. Viljoen was run out for 33, and van Schoor was last out 10 runs short of his century. Namibia made 183 in 47.1 overs, and Canada are in an excellent position.
Patel got the Canadian innings off to a positive start, striking 5 fours in his 26, and outscoring his partner Gunasekera in their partnership of 35. Zeeshan Siddiqi was unable to build on his success in the four-day game, caught and bowled for 7. The fifty came up in the 13th over but then Canada lost two quick wickets, the unusually restrained Gunasekara for 12 from 33 balls, then Kumar lbw for five, both to Burger. Limbada and Hansra played steadily and with 25 overs gone, Canada were 97/4. They put on 51 before Limbada was lbw for 28, but then Cheema came and went, run out for 3. Junaid Siddiqui helped Hansra put on 23, but when he was lbw, Canada still needed 49, with only 3 wickets remaining. Hansra fell one short of his half century, leaving the tail to try and eke out a win. Bhatti (23*) and Soraine (12*) took up the challenge, and with an unbeaten partnership of 35 took Canada to a notable victory with 7 balls to spare.
