While Canadian cricket has taken off on an international stage, around the Toronto area, there are many cricket pitches available for use as well as various local leagues. Many members of Canada’s team take part in these leagues and point to it as evidence of the development for players within Canada. But many still believe the passion that causes many fans to stay up to watch international matches around the world overnight, hasn’t hit the general Canadian population just yet.
“It really depends on your dedication to be honest,” a South African cricket supporter said. “Staying up all night to watch a match takes commitment. But there are a lot of restaurants and places that are open all night, so the local support is there. For Canada, the national team just needs to take advantage of that one opportunity.”
