Victorious OPL squad (Eddie Norfolk)

The MCC played an OPL all-star squad in a 20-20 game at Malton, and this will be followed by the OPL final later in the afternoon. The games were streamed live on the OPL web site.

The OPL squad posted a good total of 190, thanks to Dhaliwal’s 64 from 31 balls, and Sudesh’s 58. The MCC went down to a heavy defeat managing 83/8 from their 20 overs. Dutta led the bowling with 4/12 from four overs after Junaid Siddiqi and Pervez had made early breakthroughs.

In the OPL final, the Toronto Towers lost wickets early and struggled to 107 all out. Mahadeo let the bowling with 4/13. The Brampton Kings paced their innings well and although they reached the target in the 20th over, the result was never in doubt – a win by 5 wickets.

The games were watched by a modest crowd at the ground, but the live coverage allowed a larger audience to join on the web.
