The two-day two-innings Auty Cup match ended in a draw, Canada retaining the Cup on first innings lead. Canada won the toss and chose to bat, but struggled against the US attack who bowled tightly and were well supported in the field. Patel (24) and Hansra (21) made useful contributions but the critical innings was that of Rehman who held the innings together with a patient 88, coming in with the score on 12, and batting through the remainder of the innings.Canada were all out for 196 from 70 overs.
Aulakh and Cheema, helped by some great catching, made immediate inroads into the USA batting, reducing them to 26/3 after 10 overs.
On Day 2, a strong Canadian bowling effort dismissed the Americans for 114, and Canada initially looked for quick runs to set up a declaration and a chance of victory. After a promising start, they lost four wickets for 9 runs to be reduced to 37/4 and thereafter settled for playing out time. Rehman again excelled with the bat, with his unbeaten 54 leading Canada to 159/8. A third day might have led to an exciting finish, but instead a 50 over match is scheduled for Friday.
