Bur Oak repeat as York Region Athletic Association outdoor Cricket Champions

Bur Oak Secondary School Bears beat Milliken Mills High School Knights to win the York Region Athletic Association 2012-2013 Cricket Championship at Fairtree Community Park, Markham, Ontario back on October 17th, 2012. Milliken Mills batted first, making 48 all out in 12 overs. Bur Oak responded confidently to reach a winning 49 for one wicket in six overs.
Bur Oak reached the Final with a barnstorming tally of 43 runs for no wicket from 3 overs in semi-final action to overcome Jean Vanier Catholic High School’s 42 for five wickets from 15 overs on October 15th.
Milliken Mills thumped 89 runs for the loss of four wickets from 15 overs in semi-final action against Bill Crothers Secondary School. Bill Crothers was then bowled out for 34 runs in 13.2 overs, giving Milliken Mills victory by 55 runs.
Both semi-finals were played at Fairtree Community Park, as were all the games in the regular season. Matches in this outdoor cricket competition are played with a maximum of 15 overs per side.
Bur Oak topped the regular season standings with three wins from three matches. Bill Crothers placed second with two wins and one loss, Milliken Mills had one win and two losses, leaving Jan Vanier at the foot of the standings with three losses.
Jean Vanier suffered a couple of heavy defeats, but hopefully will be back next season looking to improve. Milliken Mills scored 147, then bowled out Jean Vanier for 28 on October 3rd. Next day Bur Oak made 116 and skittled out Jean Vanier for 13.
So congratulations to the cricketers of the Bur Oak Bears, who also won the 2011-2012 Cricket Championship in York Region.
