North Park win Brampton CIMA Trophy

North Park won beat Turner Fenton and Heart Lake in qualifying group matches to advance to the playoff semi-finals where North Park beat Louise Arbour by 13 runs. North Park then captured the CIBC Trophy for this Brampton championship with a 16 run victory against Harold M. Brathwaite, the school that is next to the Dixie Sandalwood Park in Brampton.
North Park reached 57 for seven in the Final from ten overs. Max Joshi made 18 and Harold Brathwaite’s Jagdeep Grewal took three wickets for 14 runs from two overs. Harold Brathwaite’s reply was restricted to 40 for five wickets. Rajat Arora took two wickets for eight runs.
The group matches included Louise Arbour recovering from an opening game eight run loss to Sandalwood Heights to hammer a short-handed Judith Nyman for 119 runs from eight overs, and David Suzuki squeezing out a one wicket win against Central Peel. Pushpek Sidhu held firm to score 14 not out to give David Suzuki the win in a team innings where Central Peel’s Waqas Yacoub took four early wickets for just five runs and Syed Ali took five wickets for 5 runs, but Pushpek Sidhu managed to survive the efforts of these two bowlers.
Louise Arbour’s 119 for three wickets from eight overs included a knock of 39 not out from opening batsman Mahvind.
