The Scarborough Hospital Foundation invites the community to join them on Saturday, June 22 and Sunday, June 23, 2013 for a Cricket Tournament and Family BBQ at L’Amoreaux Park, Scarborough, Ontario. The basic message from the Scarborough Hospital Foundation is: “Enjoy a fun filled day of cricket while you sample food from around the globe and pick up some new cricket moves at the ‘Learn To Play’ Cricket Clinic. Don’t forget to bring your Teddy Bears to the M.A.S.H. Teddy Bear Clinic where the doctor will fix any booboo’s they may have.
Proceeds from the Scarborough World Cup of Cricket will be in support of The Scarborough Hospital’s Cancer Care Program.”
The Scarborough (Ontario) World Cup of Cricket will feature ten teams playing a series of ten overs per side matches. The opening ceremony is due at 8.45 am on Saturday (June 22) continuing until 8pm. The action resumes on Sunday (June 23) with play from 9am until about 6.30pm when the closing ceremony is scheduled to take place.
Canadian international Umar Bhatti features in this tournament, potentially in the coaching clinics, along with coach Nadeem Khokhar. Former Toronto Raptors basketball player Jamaal Magloire is the Tournament Ambassador.
The tournament information gives L’Amoreaux Park’s address as 3079 Birchmount Road, which is midway up the southern part of the park on the west side. The L’Amoreaux Park cricket ground is located in a north-east corner of the park at McNichol and Kennedy.
Admission is free and food will be available for purchase. As previously mentioned, funds raised at this even will help support The Scarborough Hospital’s Cancer Care Program. (EN)
