On a day that saw the Ontario Cricket Association initiate legal action against Cricket Canada over team selection, the Cricket Canada selected Ontario squad got off to a good start in the Interprovincial tournament, scoring 171 and then bowling out Manitoba for 117. The match was played at Inverhaugh after Malton apparently was rendered unplayable by rain. It has been reported that disgruntled Ontario CA squad members were ready to protest at Malton, unaware of the venue change.
In the other match Alberta beat Quebec (Eastern squad). Eastern only managed 92, but Alberta at one point were 72/6 before finally passing the target.
