Persistent rain, which is continuing in at least south-central Etobicoke but obviously has extended as far north as King City, has resulted in all of Saturday’s (September 21’s) Toronto and District C.A. opening playoff matches being called off. A specific note that games at the Maple Leaf grounds had been called off on the TDCA facebook and website interface about an hour ago (approx. 9am EST) has been followed by a note that games at other grounds have also been called off.
The playoffs were to be have been headed by the Elite Division semi-finals: Brampton Masters Tranzac v Centurions, and Vikings v Toronto CC. The TDCA indicates news of re-arranged matches will be provided later in the day.
Matches scheduled in some of the other leagues in the Greater Toronto Area might suffer a similar fate to those in the T&D, but perhaps the odd “rain shadow”/dry zone exists somewhere.
Hopefully conditions are better in other parts of Ontario and Canada so allow the day’s cricketing activities can go ahead as scheduled. (EN)
