Punjab Cricket Club Canada added the Elite Division Championship of the Brampton-Etobicoke & District Cricket League to the club’s Regular Season Elite Division title with a win against Golden Tiger last Sunday (September 29, 2013). Golden Tiger beat Challengers XI by 9 runs under the Duckworth/Lewis (D/L) method on Saturday to reach the Final, then lost by 10 runs under the D/L method in Sunday’s Final.
Punjab CC Canada were all out for 195 after 48.4 overs in the Final. Preetinder Johal top-scored with 65. Golden Tiger were 171 for nine from 45 overs, needing another 24 runs from five overs when bad light ended Sunday’s final at the Batsman Park South ground, Brampton.
The 50-over league playoff Championships in other Brampton-Etobicoke divisions were captured by Cricketers United (Premier), Classic (Division 1), Brampton Trinity A (Division 2), Jhanvi (Division 3) and Toronto Super Kings (Division 4).
The Brampton-Etobicoke league’s morning section 25-over playoff Championships were won by Punjab XI (Division 1), Winners CC (Division 2), Pakistan Greens (Division 3), Fateh CC (Division 4) and Mississauga Dolphins (Division 5).
BTown Warriors scored 128 for eight wickets in the Morning League Division 1 Final at Dixie-Sandalwood Park, Brampton on Sunday (September 29). Six of the Warriors reached double-figures, Yadwhinder Singh top-scored with 24, while Harry Singh took three wickets for 21. Preetinder Johal hit 51 from 46 balls and Harry Singh made 30 not out as the Punjab XI reached a championship winning 129 for six with ten balls to spare of the 25-over limit. (EN)
