Young cricketers from across Toronto are getting set to take to the pitch for the CIMA Mayor’s School Cricket Championship.
The sport of cricket is growing quickly in the city, with students at more and more schools taking up the sport each year.
“When it was launched (in 2011), the objective was to have 50 teams participating within three years,” said Martin Saxton, chair of the Canadian Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), one of the organizations sponsoring the event. “We had 60 last year and we’ll have more than 70 this year.”
