The Region of Peel Secondary Schools Athletic Association (ROPSSAA) indoor Junior Boys Cricket Final today (Wednesday May 7, 2014) sees North Park play Sandalwood Heights. In Monday’s semi-finals North Park (38) beat Port Credit (24) by 14 runs, and Sandalwood Heights (23) beat Glenforest (21).
The quarterfinals of the ROPSSAA Senior Boys Cricket indoor tournament played on Tuesday saw wins for Rick Hansen against John Fraser (87/49), Applewood Heights against Stephen Lewis (58/55), David Suzuki against Louise Arbour (47/46), and Sandalwood Heights against North Park (42/41). The semi-finals are due to be played on Friday.
All of these schools are due to compete in either the Mississauga or Brampton qualifying stages of the CIBC Schools Trophy presented by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) later this month. The Mississauga qualifiers include 17 Boys and 3 Girls High Schools plus 3 Boys Middle Schools. The Brampton qualifiers involve 9 Boys High Schools and 2 Boys Middle Schools.
The Brampton entrants for the CIBC Schools Trophy comprise:
Boys High Schools: Castlebrooke, Central Peel, David Suzuki, Fletcher’s Meadow, Harold M. Brathwaite, Heart Lake, Louise Arbour, North Park and Sandalwood Heights.
Boys Middle Schools: Beryl Ford and Cheyne.
The Mississauga entrants for the CIBC Schools Trophy comprise:
Boys High Schools: Applewood Heights, Father Michael Goetz, Glenforest, Gordon Graydon Memorial, John Fraser, Lincoln M. Alexander, Mississauga (2 teams), Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Philip Pocock, Port Credit, Rick Hansen, St. Joseph, St. Francis Xavier, Stephen Lewis, T. L. Kennedy and The Woodlands.
Girls High Schools: Father Michael Goetz, St. Joseph and T.L. Kennedy.
Boys Middle Schools: Bristol Road, Erin Centre and Tomken Road.
The playing schedules for the four cities qualifying rounds of matches of the CIBC Schools Trophy are currently being developed. Several aspects of the Toronto schedule have been posted on the CIMA Canada website with the schedules for Brampton, Markham and Mississauga to follow. The main qualification matches in Toronto are due to take place next week. (EN)
