The sun shone for much of Monday (May 12, 2014) at Toronto’s G. Ross Lord Park as two of the four Toronto Boys High School groups began the path to the 2014 CIBC Trophy. North Albion Collegiate Institute (C.I.) won one group then beat Kipling C.I, the day’s other group winner. North Albion C.I. reached 70/3 from 8 overs then limited Kipling C.I. to 25/6 in 8 overs to win the day’s playoff.
There are two other Toronto Boys High School groups, the third one group are due to play on Tuesday at Sunnybrook Park. The fourth group are due to play on Wednesday at Sunnybrook Park. Sometime later this week North Albion, the 2013 CIBC Trophy winners in the Toronto Boys High Schools competition, will re-surface for the Toronto city playoff. The winning team from Toronto will then play in the Greater Toronto Area finals at Dixie-Sandalwood Park, Brampton on May 31, 2014.
The Toronto Girls High School championship is due to be played at Ross Lord Park on Tuesday (May 13). Possible afternoon rain or thundershowers did not materialize during Monday’s play, so hopefully whatever overnight rain and showers were in the forecast will steer clear of Ross Lord and Sunnybrook Parks.
