The Canada Cup T20 Cricket Championship will be played at the Elson Cricket Grounds, Markham, from Aug 30 to Sept 3, it was announced in Toronto last week.
The tournament is being billed as a unique competition of its kind in which players will be provided with a rare chance to participate in their respective home country teams.
Some seven teams, including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, England, West Indies and World XI are competing for the title.
“The exciting venture is an opportunity for local cricketers to represent their home countries like Sachin Tendulkar, Shahid Afridi or Sanath Jayasuriya,” says Romesh Malcolm, the cup organizer.
“It provides a valuable platform for cricketers to showcase their talents and win a place in world cricket.” He is hopeful of discovering new talent for Canada like Ashish Bagai, Rizwan Cheema or Khurram Chohan.
The tournament will be played at Elson Cricket Grounds, Markham (Markham Road and Steels Ave). For further details visit www.canadacupt20.com or call 416-830-4135.
