Niagara may be part of a nation that’s decidedly hockey-mad, but this weekend it’ll be ground zero for a sport that is far more popular globally: cricket.
Cricket teams from across North America and as far as Asia, along with the sounds of Indian entertainment, will descend on Niagara from Aug. 14-17 when the new Niagara Cricket Club on the border of Thorold and Niagara Falls hosts the Niagara Cricket and Bollywood Festival.
Teams from around the world, including from India and Australia, will compete in what organizers said is Canada’s only stop on Cricket Council USA’s circuit of tournaments throughout North America.
