Day 1 at the 2014 Niagara Cricket Festival

The Niagara Cricket Festival began on Thursday (August 14, 2014) with eight teams participating in two groups of four on a round-robin basis. The top two from each group qualify for Sunday morning’s semi-final matches and the final is set for Sunday afternoon when there will also be a Bollywood-style entertainment spectacular.

In Thursday’s Group A games, Somerset CC beat Midwest CC and St Edmunds, who won last weekend’s Canadian qualifying competition, began with a win against Smart Choice. North Stars beat Indian Cricket Academy in the morning game in Group B. Connecticut Blizzards beat the US All Stars in Group B’s afternoon game.
St Edmunds are scheduled to play Midwest CC in this morning’s Group A game at John N. Allan Park, that is be followed by Somerset CC against Smart Choice in the afternoon. Indian Cricket Academy is due to play Connecticut Blizzards at the Niagara Cricket Center this morning (Friday) with North Stars lined up to play US All Stars in the afternoon at the same ground.

Round-robin group matches are scheduled to start at 10.30am and 2.30pm. Sunday’s semi-finals are scheduled to begin at 9am with the Final due at 1pm.

St Edmunds won the Canadian qualifying competition last weekend, beating Niagara Cricket Club in the final, and will, presumably, play the games shown in the schedule for the team “Canada wild card”.
