The Toronto and District Cricket Association’s (TDCA’s) Elite Division playoffs are due to begin this Sunday (September 14). The two regular season conference winners will meet in one game (labelled Semi-final 1) to decide one of the playoff finalists while the two second-placed teams from each conference meet in Sunday’s other playoff game. So on Sunday, Platypus Conference winners Centurions (Won 10, Tied 1, Lost 2, Rain Outs 3, Points 73) play Synergy Spiral Conference winners Limers Lords (W 11, L 2, RO 3, Pts 72).
The winners of this Centurions-Limers Lords game proceed to the playoff final while the losers remain in playoff contention and will play, at a later date (in semi-final 2) against the winners of Sunday’s second-placed teams contest between Brampton Masters Tranzac (W9, L 3 RO 3, Pts 63) of the Synergy Spiral Conference and Mississauga Ramblers (W 9, L 5, RO 2, Pts 60) of the Platypus Conference.
The team that loses the Brampton Masters Tranzac-Mississauga Ramblers game is eliminated from the playoffs.
Sunday’s TDCA Elite Division playoff matches are both scheduled for 11 am starts at Maple Leaf CC, King City, Ontario. Other TDCA playoff games are scheduled for this weekend, including some Premier Division playoffs due on Saturday.
On Saturday (September 13) the Canadian Corporate League is hoping for the rain to stay in the clouds and for the re-scheduled semi-finals to take place in the morning at Maple Leaf CC, followed by the final on Sunday morning if the weather cooperates.
Meanwhile at the Beausejour ground in St Lucia – home to Canada in the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup – the West Indies reach test match number 500 on Saturday with Bangladesh as the opposition. So congratulations to the West Indies on reaching that milestone. (EN)
