Canada lose to Zimbabwe A – match 3

Canada’s warm-up tour of Zimbabwe continued on Saturday with a loss in their third match against a strong A squad. Canada, now with captain Jimmy Hansra in the line-up, batted first, and for the third match in succession the upper order disappointed. Both openers and number three Limabada were gone with just 18 on the board. Hansra (38) and Dhaliwal (31) took the score to 89 but then both were dismissed, followed by Hamza Tariq to leave Canada struggling at 95/6. Dutta and
Wijeratne (27) put on 48, and then Soraine (17) provided useful runs. Dutta was last man out for 43, and Canada managed 182.
Canada’s bowlers were unable to reproduce the good start of the previous match. Zimbabwe raced to 55/0 from the first ten overs, and the hundred came up in nineteen, with no wickets down. Chibhabha made 57 before Dutta bowled him with 122 on the board. Sibanda fell on 99 when victory was all but won, but Utseya for the second match in a row finished the match with a six, a 7 wicket win with12.2 overs in hand.
