Cricket Canada forced to shorten under-16 tournament in Winnipeg

Dodging raindrops much of the week, Cricket Canada managed to complete a weather-shortened version of its Under-16 national championship on the pitches at Assinboine Park. The tournament featured six sides — two from Ontario, one each from Alberta, British Columbia and Sasakatchewan and a combined squad from Manitoba and Quebec — and set in motion the newest cycle of team selection for the Under-19 World Cup….
Manitoba Cricket Association president Garvin Budhoo, one of the three national talent evaluators keeping a keen eye on the players this week, said the three-year process is essential for Canada’s best chance of success on the world stage.
