York Memorial Collegiate Institute (CI) won this school year’s Toronto District School Board girls varsity indoor championship on April 1, 2016. West Humber scored 40 for 3 wickets from 6 overs in the Final then York Memorial replied with a winning 41 for 3 after 5.2 overs. Megan Yougnauth top-scored for York Memorial with 16 runs.
York Memorial won all five round-robin games. West Humber CI placed second in the round-robin with 3 wins and 2 losses, North Albion CI won 1 and lost 3 of 4 games played leaving George Harvey in fourth place with 4 losses from 4 games. West Humber’s 68/2 from 6 overs against North Albion was the highest team total of the season. Mishuneet Sagoo made 16 for West Humber and North Albion replied with a crYeditable 53/5 from 6 overs.
George Harvey made 31/1 (6 overs) in semi-final play against York Memorial who won with 2 balls to spare, reaching a winning 32/2 after 5.4 overs. West Humber edged to victory in the other semi-final with just 1 ball to spare. West Humber ended on 54/3 after 5.5 overs in reply to North Albion’s 53/6 from 6 overs.
The TDSB Senior Boys indoor cricket competition is due to start today (Friday 8 April, 2016) and involves eight teams from seven schools. Three schools are to compete in the junior boys competition.
Outdoor TDSB cricket competitions are expected to follow for both boys and girls.
