Global T20 in Brampton

From Praim Persaud (Facebook)

It seems that the venue for the Global T20 has been identified – construction has apparently started at the CAA centre (formerly Powerade centre) in Brampton. Drop in pitches are being prepared at Flowercity Brampton.

From Eddie Norfolk:
The broad area I visited last night as day was turning to night now is indicated in soon to be available single tickets for the second Canada GT20. The preliminary ticket image and the hockey arena carry the name of the CAA Centre, Brampton (Canadian Automobile Association). A variety of fields and car parking spaces surround what used to be the Powerade Centre during some of the days of the Brampton Battalion in the Ontario Hockey League. My understanding is that a drop-in pitch will be added soon while work continues on the outfield.

The playing fields have certainly expanded and improved significantly since I made a visit to a morning league game one Saturday back in 2009 as part of a quick look at various emerging cricket fields in Brampton, Ontario. The Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce hosted a cricket tournament at the Creditview playing fields during one public holiday weekend that year. The now Creditview-Sandalwood Parkway playing fields have also expanded and are greatly improved since 2009, as I recently discovered when attending the Anglican Diocese of Toronto’s now annual church cricket gathering.

Debriefings from a game played on Canada Day Monday (July 1, 2019) were continuing amongst a group of cricketers who are out of the picture of the larger expanse where Cricket Fields currently described as 1, 2 and 3 are located. (EN)
