Ali Raza reports for the Scarborough Mirror
Canada’s largest indoor cricket facility is set to offer new coaching and training this summer.
Sorkkam Cricket in Scarborough boasts a “state of the art” facility that offers cricket training and coaching all year round. Under the new ownership of Anil Perera, the facility aims to become the heart of cricket in Canada.
“It was founded three years ago,” Perera said, adding that the Canadian National Cricket team uses the site to practice.
With new management since the beginning of this month, Perera hopes that the upcoming summer months will increase the number of participants in the game. The facility includes a snack bar, a pizza bar and an upcoming cricket store.
To further promote Sorkkam, Perera is inviting former Sri Lankan cricketer Arjuna Ranatunga to start an academy at the facility this summer.
