Mississauga Dolphins quieten Boom Boom bats in2014 MCL Final

Mississauga Dolphins won the six team Mississauga Cricket League (MCL) on Sunday (Sept 28, 2014) with a convincing 42 run win against Boom Boom at Courtneypark. Armann Kapoor hit 63 from 35 balls to lead Dolphins to 142 all out from 20 overs. Sayeed Shekani took 4/25 from 4 overs. Khalid Jawaid clipped 33 from 22 balls, but the other Dolphins batsmen had a quiet day. Wides and no-balls accounted for 21 of Dolphins 100 all out from 16.5 overs.

Still, Khalid Jawaid had the upper hand in the 2013 final, scoring 60 as Boom Boom reached a winning 120/5 after 18.3 overs in response to Dolphins 116. So honours are even between Mississauga Dolphins and Boom Boom after two seasons of the Mississauga Cricket League, based on the records on CricHQ.

Dolphins stormed into the 2014 final with a 101 run win in semi-final play against Milton Marvels back on Sept 7. Marvels were left to wonder rather than marvel at the result. Dolphins top-scorer Zubair Ali struck 72, which proved 6 more than the Marvels team collected. Dolphins thumped 167/8 from 20 overs and comfortably beat Milton Marvels 66 all out from 16.1 overs.

Fordnation made 90/7 from 20 overs in the other Sept 7 semi-final. Boom Boom’s bats pumped well in early September hitting 91/1 from 14.4 overs.

Ampra’s Daredevils and Mississauga Blazers failed to make the semi-finals.
