Ontario Reds win 2016 Under-17 Canada Cup

Ontario Reds match with Alberta was abandoned without a ball being bowled on Friday (July 8, 2016). A result that gave Ontario Reds the 2016 Under-17 Canada Cup with a record of 4 wins and 1 no-result for a total of 9 points. Alberta was left on 7 points from 3 wins, 1 loss and 1 no-result.

Ontario Green took second place after beating the Combined XI (Manitoba/Saskatchewan with some Ontario reserve players). The Combined XI was in a good position at 102/2, chasing 169 to win from 35 overs, but lost wickets quickly after a break for drinks. Rishiv Joshi took 5/24 from 6.3 overs, including a hattrick, as the Combined XI stumbled to 134 all out after 31,3 overs. This win carried Ontario Greens to second place with a record of 4 wins and 1 loss.

Quebec stumbled to 45 all out from 18 overs, a total British Columbia surpassed with 46/1 from 9 overs. Pieter Pretorius took 4 wickets for just 6 runs from 4 overs. Karthik Bhagath took 3/13 from 4 overs during the Quebec innings.

An early morning proposal to play all three scheduled Friday games in this 2016 Under-17 Canada Cup as T20 matches at Centennial Park was rejected.
