“In Canada, it’s not very often you find a tertiary institution with a cricket club, much more a highly active one. While Hockey and Lacrosse dominates, not far behind is the sport regarded as being the gentleman’s game, Cricket, lovely Cricket. Wilfrid Laurier University’s Cricket is blossoming, building incredible partnerships as well as instilling interest, curiosity and a spirit of sportsmanship using the game. How did this come to be? Let me tell you a rather brief story.
It was back in 2014 when an international, double degree math business (WLU/UW) student from Pakistan took the initiative to push for the sport in the institution. Not only did he want to develop a love for the sport locally, his aim was bigger and all encompassing. He wanted to grow the Canadian Cricket culture and that he is doing.”
