Canadian Under-19 coach Farouk Kirmani kindly found some time to comment about progress during the current Cricket West Indies Under-19 50-over tournament. He was grateful for some background information, including news that the West Indies regional teams in the 1-day were likely to include West Indies U19 internationals who had been on a tour in South Africa and Zimbabwe during the Windies Regional U19 3-day tournament. So “some of them” in the coaches comments means those Windies U19 tourists.
Farouk Kirmani tells us “We are playing against some of them who we are going to face in New Zealand. Our boys are working hard and learning game by game how to overcome their mistakes. Weather has a lot of effect on their performance and their skills; it’s very hot – temperatures are 30 degrees or above every day and some of the boys find it hard. But anyway we have one more week to go and we are working hard and preparing ourselves for the next three games.”
