The coverage of the current ICC Division 2 tournament, outside of live scorecards, has been meagre, so it is good to see video highlights of Canada’s fine win over UAE – highly recommended viewing for all Canadian cricket fans.
The screengrab shown here is from the start of the video and suggests that the ICC’s grasp of North American geography is weak to say the least. Others may see the placing of the Canadian flag over the outline of the USA reflects a perception that the ICC’s focus remains firmly south of the border – perhaps a wish that our neighbours to the south were competing instead of Canada in this tournament.
Meanwhile Canada is nearly assured of a top two place in the tournament after beating Kenya to go 3-0, and advancement to the World Cup qualifier in Zimbabwe. We can but hope that by then the ICC have worked out where Canada is located.
