Ryerson win as 2018 American College Nationals open

Ryerson University beat West Virginia by 4 runs in what must have been a dramatic finish on the opening day of the 2018 American College Cricket National Championship on Wednesday (March 14, 2018). Ryerson reached 173/6 from 20 overs at Central Broward Regional Park lead by Hassan Khan’s 75 from 45 balls. Talha Kirmani struck 28 from 19 balls. West Virginia’s leading wicket taker, Moiz Usmani was a touch expensive with 3 for 42 from 4 overs.
Ahmed Ali ended a knock of 62 by Deepesh Madela as West Virginia closed in on the target. Three wickets fell when Ahmed Ali bowled the last over of the game. The over began and ended with a run out and he ended with 2/12 from 2 overs. Ryerson benefited from useful bowling contributions by Meet Shah with 3/18 from 4 overs and Obaid Babar with 1/14 from 3 overs. Sai Satish Guda made 42 for West Virginia.
Three Canadian Universities Competing
Ryerson is scheduled to play Florida Tech today (Thursday March 15, 2018) when Wilfrid Laurier join the tournament with games scheduled against Dartmouth and University of Texas Dallas. McGill University also enters today against University of Pennsylvania and New Jersey IT. On Friday McGill is slated to play Everest and Laurier take on University of Massachusetts Lowell. Ryerson is slated to meet a team yet to be determined on Friday.
The semi-finals and finals are scheduled for Sunday (March 18, 2018).
