Ryerson opener Hassan Khan struck 39 and an innings of 97 from Jean-Paul Rocke led Ryerson’s challenge against an impressive New Jersey IT total of 203/9 from 20 overs on Saturday (March 17, 2018) in South Florida. Ryerson ended the 19th over needing 10 runs to win. A task that came down to 5 runs from the last two balls. Ahmed Ali was caught out from the 5th ball but Meet Shah gained the strike and hit the match winning six from the last ball of the 20th over. The six took Meet Shah to 13*.
A second wicket stand of 81 between opening bat Raj Bhavsar (39) and Savan Patel (59) carried New Jersey IT beyond the century mark. Neel Patel made 55 after Bhavsar’s dismissal and New Jersey IT closed on 203/9.
Ryerson is scheduled to play University of Southern Alabama in the second semi-final on Sunday. Southern Alabama held Texas A&M to just 82/8 from 20 overs in quarter-final action on Saturday. Southern Alabama then pumped 83/1 from 9.1 overs to win by 9 wickets. Sunday’s other semi-final is between University of South Florida and Rutgers.
