North Albion wins Toronto West Varsity Boys Crown

North Albion Collegiate Institute won by 50 runs against George Harvey CI in the Toronto West Varsity Boys Outdoor Cricket final on the East Ground, Centennial Park, Etobicoke on Wednesday afternoon (May 9, 2011) North Albion made 96 all out from 19.4 overs then bowled out George Harvey for 46 after 14 overs. Three of the front four batters for North Albion scored between 16 and 25 runs.

Six schools participated on Monday (May 7) in two groups of three. North Albion CI was in a group with Kipling CI and York Memorial CI. George Harvey faced Martingrove CI and West Humber CI. Semi-final games were played on Wednesday morning. I was only able to attend on Wednesday afternoon and saw the early going and concluding overs in the Varsity Boys Final.

North Albion now represents the Toronto West Region in the Toronto City Varsity Boys championship game that is scheduled to be played on Monday, May 14, 2018. The opposition and ground have yet to be confirmed for this final.

A Toronto CIMA Mayor’s cricket qualification event is due to be played at Sunnybrook Park on May 23.
