Wijeyeratne off to good start in Australia

Srimantha Wijeyeratne, in his second appearance for Murrambeena Cricket Club, was really unfortunate to have missed his maiden century in Australia by 3 runs. He was brilliantly caught at the mid wicket boundary. The innings of 97 included 14X4’s and he faced 141 balls/ 147 minutes. Murrambeena lost by 28 runs to Old Mentonians C.C., who batted first and scored 285/9 in 80 overs. The match was played on 17 & 18 November at Peter Robertson Oval (Home ground of Murrambeena) and conducted by “Cricket Southern Bayside – Division I” under affiliation to Cricket Victoria (CV)
With Srimantha and X. Ross the opening pair putting on 89 runs, they started the run chase well but lost Srimantha at the total of 150/3 and another partnership for the 6th wicket (51) between W.C. Kelly (35) and J. Handley (45) did not help the Murrambeenas to overtake the target and bowled out for 257 in 74 overs.
Murrambeena C.C. is captained by former associate player from Netherlands, Bradley (Brad) Kruger who represented Holland (2011-12) and is now domiciled in Melbourne, Australia. They will be starting 50 over per side and T-20 (white ball) matches from 24 November and will continue up to March 2019.
