Canada’s developmental squad moved to 2-0 with a nine wicket win over Argentina in the second match of the ICC America’s Division 1 T20 tournament in Florida.
The match got off to a soggy start and in the end was reduced to an 8 over affair. Batting first Argentina posted a defendable target of 54 runs but were undone by poor running and sharp Canadian fielding as 4 wickets went down to run-outs.
In reply, Canada’s skipper Jimmy Hansra (30) and number 3 Usman Limbada (25) did the honours, seeing Canada home with 5 balls to spare.
Canada joins Bermuda and USA at the top of the table at 2-0.
The ICC America’s T20 tournament will serve as a regional qualifier for the upcomign 2012 ICC T20 Cricket World Cup Qualifier. The top 2 teams from this tournament will move on to the world qualifier in Dubai in March, 2012. Canada by virtue of being a top 6 ICC High Performance Country has already qualified for the Dubai event.
