Canada took on the Caymans Islands in the semi -finals of the Americas 20-20 tournament. The game seemed almost over as a magnificent spell from Khurram Chohan (4 overs, 4 runs, 5 wickets) reduced the Caymans to 47/6. However, a combination of dropped catches and brave batting gave the Caymans a second life, and they made the most of it. Saheed Mohammed (62*) and Conroy Wright (43*) in an unbroken century partnership allowed the Caymans to reach 152/6.
In reply Canada lost Bastiampillai in the first over but Patel and Cheema took an aggressive approach. Cheema was dismissed with the score on 50 in the 5th over, and Patel followed shortly afterwards. The game was in the balance but Jyoti (58*) and Dhaniram (30) put together a useful 78 run partnership and eventually Canada ran out easy winners by 5 wickets.
