Toronto District School Board – East Region Quarter-final winners

Eddie Norfolk
The quarter-finals of the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) Eastern Region outdoor cricket took place on Thursday (May 24th) at the L’Amoreaux and Percival B. Cummins cricket grounds. As a result, the semi-finals this coming Monday at the Percival B. Cummins ground will see Woburn CI meet SATEC (9.30am) followed by Agincourt CI against David and Mary Thomson CI (12.30pm). The winners then meet in the final on Wednesday at L’Amoreaux Cricket Ground (12.30pm).
Fifteen teams from fourteen schools took part in three divisions of round-robin matches. The top two teams in each division plus the two with the best records of the rest advanced to the quarter-finals. Mary and David Thomson CI fielded two teams (A and B). One participating school, Cardinal Newman, is a member of the Toronto Catholic District School Board, but a welcome participant on the sporting field with the TDSB at cricket.

The Quarter-final results show SATEC 107 runs beat Sir Wilfred Laurier 98 runs. David and Mary Thomson 103 runs beat Cedarbrae 66 runs. Agincourt CI 101 runs beat Cardinal Newman 96 runs. Woburn 85 runs beat Lester B. Pearson 76 runs. This may seem like the raw basics of scoring, but the scores were made known to the TDSB and the semi-final line-up was able to be updated. So someone could potentially publish or broadcast these results, or write a brief article about the schools who have reached the outdoor cricket semi-finals in the East Region of Toronto, based on centrally available, timely information.

The TDSB West Region in 2012 for outdoor cricket comprises eight teams from seven schools. Round-robin matches were scheduled on separate days for each of the two divisions, each division having four teams. Having been baked and boiled a bit too much in sun during the last couple of weeks, I had to try to stay away from the sun and heat, as much as possible, on Thursday. But there is a temptation to visit the East Semi-finals next Monday, especially as I will not be able to attend the East Final next Wednesday.
