Agincourt CI and Georges Vanier SS won the afternoon matches in the TDSB Senior Boys outdoor cricket City Quarter-finals at Eglinton Flats. West Humber CI collapsed to 45 all out after making something of a start; the second wicket fell with 27 runs on the board in the eighth over. The rest of the innings was a struggle. Georges Vanier lost an early wicket and were not too impressive in reaching 23 for four wickets during the eighth over, but a couple of boundaries turned the game around so a winning 46 for five wickets was achieved during the thirteenth over.
The game between Marc Garneau CI and Agincourt CI also featured some struggles with the bat. Marc Garneau stood on 33 for the loss of five wickets in the twelth over, but managed to reach 65 all out in nineteen overs. The early batting and running between the wickets for Agincourt gave hope to Marc Garneau. Three wickets fell for just four runs in three overs. A run-out from the first ball of the fourth over made it an even four runs for four wickets. A couple of overs later ten runs were on the board, but six wickets were lost in reaching double figures. But a couple of batters provided resistance and began to provide hope for Agincourt. One scored 18 but was out before the end of the fifteen over when the total stood at 58 for eight. The other batsman to make runs was then caught for 20, but the last pair managed to garner some singles and a quick single from the fifth ball of the 20th over saw Agincourt to a win by one wicket.
My understanding is that North Albion CI and Woburn CI won the early games on Wednesday.
The TDSB City semi-finals are scheduled for Eglinton Flats on Monday at 9am. The final follows at high noon!
