OPL makes debut

In the inaugural game of the Ontario Premier League, played in Malton’s Wildwood Park The Toronto Towers beat the Ontario Trilliums by 7 runs, and on Sunday Mississauga Marines had an easier time of it, defeating Brampton Kings by 17 runs.

More than a hundred spectators took in today’s game.
“It was a bit one-sided but we got to see some of the best cricketers in Canada,” said Errol Baptiste, who was very vocal on the sidelines. The rabid fan, who played cricket in his native Barbados, cheered every boundary.
In-between overs he ogled a squad of cheerleaders.
“That’s a first for me. I never saw no cheerleaders in cricket before … but I ain’t complaining,” he said, laughing.
