NCL- Day 2

Day 2 of the Canadian National Cricket League saw the meeting of the two winning teams from Thursday’s opening day, and the entry of the Ontario gladiators, known in this tournament as the Central Shield, who played the losing team with the better net run rate from the opening day.
Prairie Fire won the toss and chose to bowl against Pacific Edge. Gaurav Singh led the way for the Edge with 73, the top score of the competition so far. A good 8th wicket partnership from Sangha (27*) and Dhillon (31*) took the total to 203/7 from 50 overs. In reply Patel made 33, but Dhindsra with two wickets and Hansra with three reduced the Fire to 108/7. A 53 run partnership between Manitoba’s Lovelace (38) and captain Osinde (25) took them to 161 but they were all out 27 runs short of the target in the 43rd over. Dhindsra finished with 4/37.
Western Stallions won the toss and decided to bat against Central Shield (the Ontario-based side, their first game). The Stallions made a solid start thanks to 27 from Aurka and 28 from Limbada; Khurram Chohan also contributed with 35* as they reached 173/7 from their 50 overs. Abzal led the bowling, conceding only 21 runs from 10 overs. When the Shield batted, three early wickets from Khurram Chohan had them at 38/4, and then Desai (3/9) proved too much for the middle order as they slumped to 61/7 and then to 97 all out.
