The Canadian women’s team, already out of the World Cup by virtue of losing their first two matches of the three day series lost to the USA again. A combination of good bowling and poor running between the wickets saw them all out for 86 off 33 overs. Tittlemeir was the top-scorer with 24. In reply, the USA’s first wicket fell at 19 after five overs, and the second, thanks to a run out, at 44. However, USA Women reached a winning 87 for 3 in the 30th over. Atkins was 31 not out.
The USA takes the series 3-0 and qualified for the 2011 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, due to be played in Bangladesh. The teams are due to play two T20 matches on Saturday at King City. (Thanks to Eddie Norfolk for updates)
