Dunu Eliaba is causing some confusion on sports fields in Fredericton. The cricket player, originally from New Zealand, moved to Fredericton five years ago and launched Cricket New Brunswick. He thought it would be a great idea because cricket was once declared Canada’s national sport.
It turns out, however, that growing the sport has been a challenge. Few people in New Brunswick are familiar with it. Michelle Foreman of Fredericton had never really even heard of cricket until a friend recruited her to play this year. She says it’s a confusing sport to learn.
“Holding the bat is different. Bowling the ball, you can’t bend your elbow, so that’s hard to get used to.”
