Cricket lover selling his field of dreams (Guelph Mercury)

In 1994, Bart Singh bought a rugged piece of former cow pasture along the Grand River and began building his field of dreams. With the help of family and friends, he trucked in a mountain of topsoil, hauled out boulders, planted special blends of rye grass, and tamed the lawn with a fleet of tractors, turf rollers and lawn mowers. He built a shrine to cricket so rare in Canada that for the past 18 years cricketers have been coming from around the world and playing in his backyard. They turned these 7.5 acres outside Woolwich Township into a slice of the English countryside — complete with a real turf pitch, breaks for tea, and lily-white uniforms on a sparkling green backdrop.
But now, after sinking countless piles of time and money into his private Inverhaugh Cricket Club, Singh says he’s selling his labour of love.
