“If newcomers are making a difference anywhere, it is Halifax, the undeniable mecca for immigrants headed to this province and this region. Fully three-quarters of all immigrants who landed in Nova Scotia in 2012 made for the provincial capital, which last year took in about the same number of new Canadians as Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island combined.
The cricket association is emblematic of what is happening in Halifax Regional Municipality. A couple of years ago, it was a little more than a handful of guys getting together for a Sunday afternoon pickup game.
Now there are four full-fledged teams.”
