Halifax Red capture 40-over championship in Nova Scotia

Halifax Red beat regular season leaders Halifax Blue by three wickets in the Nova Scotia Cricket Association’s 40-over championship final on October 6. Anuraj Gupta hit 53 and Tushar Sehgal 30 as Halifax Blue reached 168 for nine from 40 overs, but Red edged hoe with ten balls to spare. Red made 171 for seven wickets, headed by 49 from Man-of-the-Match Yash gugle and 44 from Anirdh Basu. Red’s Muneeb Ahmedani captured four wickets for just 15 runs during Blue’s innings while Anmol Zakhmi took three for 13 in the Red’s response.
Halifax Blue qualified for the 40-over Final due to topping the regular season round-robin following five wins, one loss and one no-result. Second-placed Halifax Red (3 wins, 3 losses and 1 no-result) had to face third-placed Halifax Gold (2 wins, 3 losses, 1 tie and 1 no-result) in a semi-final playoff. David Campbell struck 89 for Halifax Gold out of team total of 202 all out. Vivek Reddy’s 48 not out carried Halifax Red to a four wicket win with four overs to spare.
Halifax Green was sidelined for these playoffs as a result of a regular season record that included just one win and one tie. Green had one no result but lost four other matches.
