TDCA Elite Division Season opens this weekend

Play is due to begin this weekend in the Elite Division of the Toronto and District Cricket Association (TDCA). A match between Islanders and Limers Lords is on the Platypus Conference schedule for Saturday (May 24) at the Maple Leaf Cricket Club grounds in King City. Platypus Conference games on Sunday are due see Toronto CC host Mississauga Ramblers at the Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling Club and Yorkshire meet GhaznaviCC-Headstart at Maple Leaf CC. Limers Lords are also due to play Civics on Sunday (May 25) at Maple Leaf CC a game listed in the Synergy Spiral Conference.

Twelve teams, divided into two conferences, are competing in this season’s TDCA Elite Division. The conferences have been re-named after sponsors. The Synergy Spiral Conference comprises Brampton Masters Tranzac, Civics, Limers Lords, Ontario Cricket Academy, Victoria Park and Vikings. Teams in the Paltypus Conference are Centurions, GhanznaviCC-Headstart, Islanders, Mississauga Ramblers, Toronto and Yorkshire.

Hopefully the weather will pick up after a certain amount of rain arrived following a rather long cold and snowy winter in the Greater Toronto Area as well as in many parts of Canada, although there was some cricketing action in the Vancouver area in April.

Best wishes for the 2014 cricket season to all players, officials and volunteers who keep cricket ticking along from sea to shining sea across the country.
