GTA CIMA Championships underway in Brampton

The CIMA GTA Boys High Schools Cricket Tournament began on Saturday morning with one more team than originally planned. A glitch in the calculation of the run rates for the fourth team to participate in the Brampton division had come to light, so North Park Secondary School was added to the original four City champion teams of North Albion CI (Toronto), Pierre Elliott Trudeau HS (Markham), Lincoln M. Alexander (Mississauga) and Fletcher’s Meadow SS (Brampton). A qualifying series of six over games is being played this morning to decide the two to play in this afternoon’s Final.

North Albion pulled off a last ball win against North Park in the day’s first game on the south pitch when the bowler failed to run out the striker who had not made great contact with the ball, but managed to make ground for the game winning single.
The GTA Girls High School final between Father Michael Goetz HS, the Mississauga champions, and York Memorial CI, the Toronto champions, is due to start at 11.30am. It will comprise 12 overs per side.

The GTA Boys Middle School championship is being played on a round robin basis involving JS Woodsworth Senior Public School (Toronto champion), Erin Centre Middle School (Mississauga champion) and Beryl Ford Public School (Brampton champion). Games are set for 10 overs per side.

The sun has come out and it has warmed up a lot since the early morning. (EN)
