Cricket in India is immeasurably richer for the fact that the catchment areas long ago moved out of the big cities. The roads less travelled, which pass through Ranchi, Shrirampur and Sahaspur, are where the game’s future lies. Why should it be any different globally? Killing the dreams of aspiring cricketers in Dublin, Kathmandu, Kabul and Port Moresby may result in some short-term profit. In the long term, however, no sport gains from a cyanide pill.”
