It is supposed to remain dry in the Greater Toronto Area until late on Saturday (September 20, 2014) and the temperature is due to rise to a peak of around 24C. This scenario will hopefully see the Toronto and District Cricket Association Elite Division playoffs make a start at the Maple Leaf cricket grounds in King City, Ontario. Regular season conference winners Limers Lords and Centurions are due to meet in the first semi-final on Saturday with the winner advancing to the playoff final. The loser is due to re-appears in Sunday’s second semi-final against the winner of Saturday’s game between the second-placed regular season teams, Brampton Masters Tranzac and Mississauga Ramblers.
A quarter-final game is scheduled at Maple Leaf CC on Saturday in each of the Premier and First Divisions. The semi-finals in these Divisions are scheduled at Maple Leaf CC on Sunday.
Thorncliffe Boys and West Indians are due to meet in a Second Division semi-final on the East ground at Ross Lord Park on Saturday. The winner advances to Sunday’s final against Brampton Masters Tranzac at the same ground.
The Division Three and Four finals are scheduled on Saturday at Sunnybrook Park. The Fifth Division semi-finals are due to be played at Keele Reservoir on Saturday with the final to follow on the Keele Top ground on Sunday.
Games are due to start at 11 am. There seem to be grounds for believing the Elite Division will get underway on Saturday. Hopefully any rain due later on Saturday or on Sunday will bypass the Maple Leaf cricket grounds. (EN)
